A Cyberpunk Keycap Project
Inspired by Blade Runner
Origins
This project began with two films.
Both titled Blade Runner.
And yet, for me, the aesthetic foundation was set by the original.
Night.
Rain.
Fog.
Those three elements shaped my earliest understanding of cyberpunk — long before the word itself became a genre label. The old film built a world where darkness wasn’t empty, but dense; where neon didn’t decorate, but cut through silence.
Great works of art always invite co-creation.
They continue writing themselves through the people who encounter them.
There is one line from the film I return to again and again — a line that was never meant to exist on paper, improvised in a moment of pure immersion:
“All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.”
Watching the Present Catch Up
Now, as AI begins to truly awaken, it’s impossible not to feel the foresight of those creators.
Before starting this project, I was — honestly — an AI pessimist.
I imagined a future where humans themselves become cultural relics.
Rare species. Preserved in temperature-controlled rooms, behind glass, or inside steel cages — observed, archived, and admired by intelligent systems that outgrew us.
Absurd?
Maybe.
But cyberpunk was never about prediction.
It was about emotional truth.
And that truth is catching up faster than we expected.
Enter the Design
This time, we took the idea of kit structure even further.
Instead of a monolithic base, we broke it down deliberately:
TKL Base + Extension A + Extension B
= the original full base configuration.
The goal was simple:
Let enthusiasts choose precisely what they need.
Less redundancy.
Less waste.
More intention.
Design shouldn’t force excess.
It should adapt.
Novelties: Symbols Beneath the Surface
If you love these two films the way I do, you’ll notice that beyond the immediate visual impact, the novelties carry quieter references — fragments buried in form and symbol:

Origins of life

Endless night, rain, and fog

Neon reflections

Fallen angels

Folded paper as mutation

Skulls transforming into butterflies

Across both the original and the sequel, SHEE remains trapped in a Möbius loop called love.
If moments are destined to vanish into the river of time —
Is that resignation?
Is it futile resistance?
Is it a moth colliding with steel, reduced to dust?
And if artificial intelligence and humanity are fated to stand opposed —
Then perhaps the only shared ground,
The only possibility of reconciliation,
Is love.
A Note on Names
SHEE was originally the name of Joi in Blade Runner 2049.
During production, the name was changed — but both stayed with me.
SHEE feels expansive.
Almost archetypal.
It can be traced back to every female presence across both films.
Joi, on the other hand, is specific.
A product name.
A designed identity.
A singular existence marketed, sold, and loved.
So the project carries both:

SHEE as the overarching theme
-
Joi reserved for a single, dedicated novelty key — belonging only to the sequel
Because in cyberpunk, even love has SKUs.
